Alex Iwobi hosted his annual Project 17 community day and tournament on Sunday 23rd June.
Committed to leveraging his influence to advance and support marginalised communities, Alex launched the community initiative dedicated to educating, empowering, and inspiring youth, the wider community and supporters.
For the second year running, Alex hosted the annual Project 17 community day and mixed gender tournament at Enfield College, North London, with over 1,000 people in attendance. This family-friendly event saw the local community come together for a jam-packed day of footballing fun and entertainment. Although this is the second year of the tournament format, Alex and Project 17 have been delivering a football and community day every summer for four years now, where young people meet some of their favourite footballers and watch them play.

The football tournament consisted of 12 teams, with the winning team taking home the day's Project 17 Cup. This event was a chance for people of all ages and all levels to put their skills to the test, as professional players, grassroots teams and football industry organisations such as Baiteeze Squad, SE Dons, 90s Baby Podcast, and Ballers in God went head to head on the pitch.
Alongside the tournament, Alex provided music and activities for the whole family. Including one-to-one skills challenges for those eager to pick up some new tricks.
All proceeds from the day will be donated to a charity very close to Alex's heart - The Christian Mbulu Charity, dedicated to providing support for individuals between the ages of 13-18, and professional footballers.
Alex said: “Growing up we had nothing like this in my area. Sport really brings people together which is why I wanted to have an event the whole family and community could enjoy. I am so grateful to have a platform that I can use to try and make a difference, and am thankful to everyone who attended, supported or helped in making this such a great day and, most importantly, raising funds for a great cause, the Christian Mbulu Charity. I look forward to growing the event further next year.”
