Fulham picked up a point on the road as they played out a goalless draw with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Whites created more chances than their London rivals, with a golden opportunity falling to Raúl Jiménez in the second half, but they couldn’t find a winner.

The opening stages were relatively quiet despite both sets of fans creating a derby day atmosphere, although Fulham did force the home side into conceding two corners in the first couple of minutes.

Alex Iwobi was given the first real sight of goal when Timothy Castagne’s cross was cleared into his path, but the ferocious strike went narrowly over the bar.

There was a let-off for the Whites when Bryan Mbeumo broke down the right side and eventually fired a shot against the crossbar, with Bernd Leno getting behind the follow-up from Keane Lewis-Potter for his first save of the afternoon.

Fulham continued to work openings, with Iwobi showing some fancy footwork on the edge of the box before pulling the ball back to João Palhinha. However, the clipped shot didn’t trouble Bees ‘keeper Mark Flekken.

Andreas Pereira was next to try his luck from distance, but his piledriver from 25 yards also cleared the crossbar.

After twisting and turning to work the shooting opportunity for himself, Iwobi threatened again as Flekken was called into action to claim the effort, while Christian Nørgaard volleyed wide at the other end moments later.

Issa Diop was on hand to deal with danger when the Bees next attacked, as Lewis-Potter lifted a cross over Leno which our centre-back had to head over.

There was a final Fulham chance on the stroke of the break as Castagne lofted in a cross which was met by Palhinha, but the header was wide and the half finished goalless.

Marco Silva’s side picked up where they left off after the interval, with Alex Iwobi whipping in a good ball towards Rodrigo Muniz. The striker beat his man and headed down, but it bounced into Flekken’s arms.

Our boss turned to the bench to liven things up, bringing on Jiménez and Adama Traoré. Those reinforcements combined as great work from Adama provided Raúl with a chance that he couldn’t hit the target with.

Adama found himself with an opportunity when fellow sub Tom Cairney played him in, and the low effort had to be pushed away by an alert Flekken to keep the scores level.

Both sides showed endeavour until the end, and the last action of the game saw Antonee Robinson's shot blocked by a red shirt. That proved to be the final action, as the ref blew for full-time shortly after and we settled for a draw.
