Emile Smith Rowe has claimed his third Man of the Match award of the season following his efforts back in his home town on Saturday.
The Croydon-born midfielder had already created two chances for Fulham by the time he opened the scoring, a goal that came about after his high press saw him win the ball in a dangerous area off Maxence Lacroix.
“We try to work on our pressing from the front in training, so it’s good to see it come off,” Smith Rowe told FFCtv afterwards. “It was a good assist from Raúl, so I’m happy.

“I’m buzzing. It’s good to come back [to Croydon]. I haven’t been here in a while, so I’m just happy to be back and score. To win two London derbies in a row is a really good feeling.”
The midfielder thought he’d doubled Fulham’s advantage just after half-time when he converted from close range, but VAR deemed him to be offside by the finest of margins, with his assister Alex Iwobi joking that it was down to the upper body work he’s been doing in the gym.

Iwobi had also enjoyed a fantastic game at Selhurst Park but had to settle for second place with 28.6 per cent of the vote. The in-form Harry Wilson came third on 7%, but nobody came close to Smith Rowe who claimed 48.7% of the votes.
