Sander Berge’s excellent international break continued as Norway won their Nations League group courtesy of a 5-0 win over Kazakhstan on Sunday.
The result was never really in doubt, with the hosts storming into a three goal lead in Oslo before half-time through an Erling Haaland brace and Alexander Sorloth goal.
Berge claimed his second assist of the week when he set up Haaland for his hat-trick, with Antonio Nusa adding a fifth.
In order to claim top spot in League B Group 3, they needed to better the result achieved by Austria, who were held to a draw at home by Slovenia, meaning Norway secured promotion to the top flight.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Belgium were beaten 1-0 by Israel, but it would have been a proud evening for Timothy Castagne nonetheless, as he led the side out as captain.
Castagne played the full match at left-back on a foggy night in Budapest, where a goalless draw looked set to unfold, until a mistake at the back from substitute Matte Smets allowed debutant Yarden Shua to claim the three points.
Israel needed to win by three to condemn Belgium to relegation in their place, so the result did not actually affect the final standings in the end as the Red Devils finished third.

On Saturday, Harry Wilson played the entirety of Wales’ eventful 0-0 in Turkey.
With both sides capable of topping League B Group 4, it was a tense evening in front of a hostile home crowd, but Wales held their own, with Jordan James seeing a goal ruled out, and Wilson hitting the post from 20 yards in the first half.
It looked as though they would be heading home empty handed when Neco Williams gave away a late penalty, but Kerem Akturkoglu saw his 89th minute spot kick hit the same post that Wilson struck.
The result means Cymru can still secure automatic promotion with victory over Iceland in Cardiff on Tuesday, but they would need Turkey to drop points against Montenegro if they are to claim top spot.

In CONCACAF Nations League Quarter-Final action, Raúl Jiménez played 77 minutes of Mexico’s 2-0 defeat in Honduras.
Luis Palma had put the home side in front after the hour mark, and the same man doubled the advantage late on following Raúl’s withdrawal.
It means an uphill battle for Mexico in Wednesday’s second leg, but they will be confident that home advantage in Toluca will help them overturn the deficit.

Friday saw Joachim Andersen’s Denmark narrowly defeated 2-1 by Spain in Copenhagen.
Mikel Oyarzabal and Ayoze Perez gave the European champions control of the game, before Gustav Isaksen’s late consolation.
A 90th minute booking for Andersen means he is suspended for Monday night’s meeting with Serbia, which Denmark must not lose if they are to claim second place in League A Group 4 and the Quarter-Final place that comes with it.

At youth level, Samuel Amissah played 69 minutes of England Under-18s’ 3-1 defeat by Poland, while Josh King was an unused substitute for the 19s’ 2-1 win against Bulgaria.
