In late August, Fulham’s Under-18 squad took part in a coaching session at Fulham FC Foundation’s Soccer Schools at the Club’s training ground in Motspur Park. During the final week of the six-week long Soccer Schools, our new batch of Under-18s, who signed their scholarship contracts in the summer, were invited to lead a session, passing on their skills and knowledge to our aspiring youngsters.

These Academy players spent time in the classroom prior to the Soccer Schools planning out their sessions, practising their preparational and organisational skills while learning about the objectives and curriculum of Fulham FC Foundation’s holiday camps.

The Under-18s coached different groups, with some taking older age groups, and others tasked with leading a session with younger participants. There were a variety of different drills on show across the groups, helping aid different skills of our Soccer Schools participants.

It proved to be a beneficial and rewarding experience for the Under-18s during the first couple of months of their scholarship programme.

“It was great to have Fulham’s Under-18s get involved in the Foundation’s holiday camps this summer. For so many young people, activities like our Soccer Schools are key memories in their footballing journeys, so to have such outstanding role models connecting with them, sharing their skills and being so encouraging was really special. These players are a credit to their club and the whole Fulham Family.” Mat Doolan, Business Development and Communications Manager, Fulham FC Foundation

“As a group, we all really enjoyed the experience of coaching the participants at Soccer Schools. It was enjoyable to work with younger people and it was also good for us to learn new skills and things about coaching.” Logan Cooke, Fulham Under-18s defender.
