A lot’s happened in Kenny Tete’s 102 appearances for Fulham: from relegation, to promotion, to consolidation in the Premier League, with Man-of-the-Match performances and a goal or two along the way.
Now, the right-back is relishing a campaign filled with optimism, with the high standards evident from his season summary so far.
“Mixed feelings obviously,” the 28-year-old admits. “I think we deserved something in Manchester (from the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford).

“We had a really good game at home at the Cottage with a great win (against Leicester). Last game (against Ipswich) it could have gone either way, but I think we’re happy with a point, so I would say not a bad start.
“I’m feeling great and I’m happy that I could start all three games. Obviously we bought some new players, we have a great squad and we’re aiming to finish as high as possible.”
Among the Whites’ summer signings there have been faces old and new to Kenny, with the returning Joachim Andersen needing no introduction.
“Of course, he knows the club already. I know him really well also from my Lyon days, so it’s really nice to have a good friend and I can play really well with him.

“Reiss Nelson is a really nice guy as well. I know for sure he will help us because he’s a really good player. Everyone can see what he’s done at Arsenal with his last-minute goals, so we can’t wait to see him score goals for Fulham.
“I think we have a really good group of lads, all roughly the same age and everyone has the same idea, so I think it will fit together really well.”
Kenny was flanked by his son ahead of Fulham’s first win of the season, walking out as mascot.
“To be honest, he went with me on the pitch but he was really afraid because of the fire and everything. Now, the whole week he’s already been saying ‘Daddy, can I walk with you on the pitch again?’, so let’s see!”

The topsy-turvy nature of Kenny’s four-year spell has taught him what it takes to be successful in the Premier League, a lesson learnt both the easy way and the hard way.
“To be honest, we speak sometimes with the lads and they all say that our squad from the first year I was here was a really good one in terms of names, but I think this squad is also really strong.
“At the end of the day, it’s not just about having good players; it’s also important that you have a good atmosphere and the right tactics, and how we work as a team. I think this year it feels good, so let’s see. Fingers crossed!
“My time here has gone quickly, especially with the journey we’ve been on. Going down, getting relegated, winning the Championship, staying in the Prem. It’s been a pleasure to be here.”

Saturday’s game against West Ham – a team roundly beaten 5-0 at the Cottage last season – represents the first all-London tie of Fulham’s season.
“London derbies are always special and hopefully we can get a great result like last year. You never know, this is the Premier League.
“They’ve bought some new players and have a totally different team and coach. There’s something extra, so let’s see. I can’t wait actually!”
