The oppositon
Ryan Lowe was the first managerial casualty of the season after Preston lost their opener at home to Sheffield United. It was a former Blades boss who took charge, and Paul Heckingbottom has overseen a win, a draw and a defeat in his three league games since, leaving the Lilywhites just outside the Championship relegation places.
Their Carabao Cup campaign has been flawless, though. After seeing off high-flying Sunderland 2-0 at Deepdale in Round One, they smashed Harrogate 5-0 away from home, with a hat-trick for Milutin Osmajić resulting in the striker being voted player of the round.

Team news
🔵 Liam Lindsay returns from suspension, but Will Keane and Stefan Thordarson are doubts.
🤍 Marco Silva will make changes for the cup tie, but has insisted that the XI that starts will be more than capable of progressing. In Monday's press briefings, he alluded to a new back four, and a potential start for Reiss Nelson. The only confirmed absentee is Carlos Vinicius.
Tickets
Fans can purchase tickets on the night from the away ticket office, which is adjacent to the turnstiles at the Bill Shankly Kop. There is no price increase on the day, with adult tickets £20, concessions from £10 and juniors £5.
Kits
There will be a first runout for the new red and black away kit for the boys at Deepdale.

Worldwide FFCtv subscribers can listen to commentary from Gentleman Jim and Jamie Reid, while the match will also be available on Sky Sports+.
Weather
☀️ A sunny and dry day is forecast in Preston, with temperatures around 14 degrees at kick-off.
Penalty shoot-out
If the scores are level after 90 minutes, penalties will decide who progresses to Round Four.
