Ryan Sessegnon’s stunning hit against Tottenham Hotspur has won our March Goal of the Month award.
Sess had been on the pitch for a matter of seconds when Bernd Leno launched a long kick up-field. He then outmuscled former teammate Ben Davies with ease before rocketing an unstoppable effort into the postage stamp on his weaker right foot.
“Initially, when the ball went there, I was thinking in my head to leave it,” Sess told FFCtv afterwards. “But then I thought I’d gamble on it, run in behind, and I managed to get my body there.
“[Davies] kind of let the ball bounce and I shrugged him off a little bit, tried to get it on my right foot because it was on the other side of me, and then just took a swing at it and it managed to go in.
“The noise was incredible once the ball went in the back of the net, and I’m just happy to help the team get a vital three points.”
This month’s ballot was something of a landslide, with three-quarters (75.3%) of the vote going to Sessegnon. Rodrigo Muniz’s placed effort in the same match came third (4.6%), with Raúl Jiménez’s goal at Brighton taking second (17.4%).
