A group of second-year students from Fulham FC Foundation’s Football & Education programme were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity last week as they made a trip to St George’s Park—the training base for all 23 of England’s national teams and the hub for England Football Learning, where many elite coaching and medical courses are delivered.
The visit formed part of the FA’s Coach Development Programme and saw the students managed by top-tier coaches from the Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship—an inspiring and eye-opening experience for the young footballers.
The day began with a detailed pre-match briefing led by the coaches, covering tactical roles, responsibilities, and insights into match dynamics. Following the session, the team stepped onto one of the world-class pitches at St George’s Park to take on another invited side, also guided by elite Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship. The match ended in a 3-1 victory for our students, offering not only a competitive challenge but also a rare glimpse into the professional environment of high-level football coaching.
