The UEFA B Preparation Programme, spearheaded by The Powerhouse Project in collaboration with Nike and The Football Association (FA), is designed to support female coaches holding a UEFA C license as they advance toward obtaining their UEFA B license - a critical qualification for coaching at elite levels in football.
This intensive three-month programme, offers aspiring coaches a comprehensive blend of educational experiences:
- On-pitch coaching clinics: Practical sessions that enhance technical and tactical coaching skills.
- Theoretical classes: In-depth discussions on coaching methodologies and strategies.
- Q&A sessions: Opportunities to engage with leading figures in the football industry.
- Matchday experiences: Access to Women's Super League (WSL) and Premier League events to observe and learn from professional environments.

We spoke to our Girls Football & Education Head Coach, Beth Roche, on her success in getting a place in the programme and how she feels the programme will support her coaching journey and the impact it can bring to her work with Fulham FC Foundation activities.
Tell us about your journey with Fulham FC?
“My journey with Fulham began at age 10 with the Girls' Academy, where I developed not only as a player but also a deep passion for the club. By 15, I started coaching, and a year later, I returned to Fulham FC Foundation as a sessional coach, my first paid role. While studying Sports Development and Management at the University of Portsmouth, I continued to coach and grow professionally.
"After graduating, I rejoined the Foundation, working in the Primary Education department before taking on a new role focused on expanding female participation. Seeing a gap for players aged 16 and over, we launched Fulham FC Foundation’s first Female Football & Education Programme with Raynes Park High School. We started with eight participants, grew to 18 in year two, and are now on track for 25+. I’m proud to lead this programme and help build a clear, lasting pathway for young women in football.”

How did you become involved?
“I applied for The Powerhouse Project online, I was then invited for an online interview where I had to present about why I wanted to be on the programme, how it would benefit me and what my aims and objectives currently are for the team I work with.”
Last weekend was your first involvement, what did this consist of?
“Last weekend, I had an overnight stay at St George's Park, where I got to meet all the other aspiring coaches in the cohort and some of the tutors. The cohort consists of coaches from across London as well as the Midlands and Sheffield. This weekend consisted of networking, workshops and on the grass practical coaching sessions.”

What do you hope to gain from being involved?
“I am hoping to gain some unforgettable experiences, build positive professional relationships and to learn more about myself as a coach.”
How will this benefit your work at Fulham FC Foundation?
“The project will allow me to gain a fully funded place to get onto my UEFA B coaching licence. The UEFA B license will help me gain an understanding of the demands of the game and how to meet the needs of players, which will benefit the participants I work with across South West London.”
What would you say to others about opportunities like this?
“This is an amazing opportunity for females who are looking to better themselves as a coach and as an individual. The Powerhouse Project has so many amazing partners such as Nike, The FA, Sports Direct, Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton, Chelsea and Birmingham. This will expose you to so many different people and opportunities. If coaching sounds like something you want to pursue then I would definitely encourage all females to get involved with such an amazing project.”
