Ryan Sessegnon has won our Southampton Man of the Match vote by a landslide.
The 24-year-old has been in sensational form at the top end of the pitch of late, but even operating at left-back – in place of the absent Antonee Robinson – did not curtail his attacking contributions, with his stoppage time winner his sixth goal contribution in eight Premier League outings.
The fact that both Sess and his opposite full-back Kenny Tete were in the penalty area trying to get on the end of Adama Traoré’s late delivery demonstrated our determination to win the contest, and it was a fantastic header from our Academy graduate that did just that.

It was not an easy finish to execute, but Sessegnon pulled it off perfectly, stooping to meet the low cross and guide it away from Aaron Ramsdale in one smooth motion, before sprinting away to celebrate with a delighted away end to his right.
So high were the spirits among the travelling contingent that plenty of them were still in the stands 15 minutes after the final whistle, continuing to sing about one of their own.
Sessegnon’s match-winning exploits earned him a whopping 79.6 per cent of the vote. Emile Smith Rowe really took the game by the scruff of the neck when he came on, not least with his equaliser, and duly came second with 5.9%, ahead of the man he replaced – Willian – who took 5%.
