Since joining his first Fulham FC Foundation session at Lambeth Holiday Kicks in 2021, Shai has become one of the most dedicated and inspiring figures in our Premier League Kicks programme.
After spending over 437 hours across 209 sessions at Fulham FC Foundation activities, his journey reflects the true spirit of Kicks: commitment, leadership, and community impact.
We asked Shai to describe what Kicks has meant to him in three words: “Fun. Opportunity. Confidence.”
From participant to role model
Shai began his journey by regularly attending his local Kicks session in Mitcham, quickly becoming a familiar and positive presence. As a member of the Kicks Youth Forum, he’s played an active role in shaping how the programme supports young people across southwest London.
"It felt like people were appreciating the work done by the Youth Forum to make Kicks better." — Shai

In 2024, Shai represented Fulham FC Foundation at the Premier League Charitable Fund (PLCF) Youth Summit, a milestone that marked his continued growth on and off the pitch. He’s also been a standout participant in the Kicks Development Centre (KDC), where he continues to develop both his footballing ability and leadership skills.
“From the very beginning, Shai has consistently shown a willingness to get involved, support others, and bring positive energy to every session. His involvement in the Kicks Youth Forum has been outstanding — his input has been invaluable in shaping key projects and ensuring that young people’s voices are truly heard and respected. We’re excited to see what he achieves next.” — Christian Thompson, Youth Engagement Officer, Fulham FC Foundation
Giving back through coaching
Shai began his coaching journey by volunteering alongside the Met Police Kicks Co-ordinator, supporting younger participants and offering guidance, a powerful example of how Kicks empowers young leaders.
His dedication earned him a place on the Made in Fulham programme, a leadership pathway for young people passionate about giving back to their communities.
"Kicks has always been something I looked forward to during the week. No matter what, I knew I’d go and have fun, and I want other young people to experience that too." — Shai

Paul Smithers Award winner
The Paul Smithers Kicks Cup is a special tournament held in memory of the late Paul Smithers; a former Fulham FC Foundation Youth & Community Manager whose legacy continues to shape the Foundation’s work.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Kicks programme, Shai was awarded the Paul Smithers Award, celebrating not just football talent, but the values of dedication, teamwork, and leadership.
