Fulham FC’s U18s recently played a special fixture against Fulham FC Foundation’s Fulham Badgers Team to mark World Down Syndrome Day. The annual match brought plenty of excitement, with both teams showcasing their skills. There were plenty of fantastic celebrations, questionable refereeing calls, and a lot of fun. After a tense penalty shootout, the Badgers came out on top, celebrating a well-earned victory.
"It was fantastic to work with the U18s this year as part of our annual fixture with the Academy. Ahead of the match, one of our coaches led an insightful education workshop on Down’s Syndrome awareness and inclusive coaching practices. The U18s were incredibly receptive, engaging with the Badgers with enthusiasm and respect. It was a competitive and spirited game, with the Badgers coming out on top! Moments like these truly showcase the power of sport to bring people together and celebrate inclusion." – Katy Shephard, DisAbility Development Manager, Fulham FC Foundation
