Ahead of Sunday’s local derby against Brentford, Premier League Productions sat down with both Kenny Tete and Ryan Sessegnon to get their analysis of the season, and ambitions for the final two matches.

How much of a motivation is there to end the season in the top half?

RS: There’s a great motivation. The last two games, how they’ve gone has been very disappointing for us, so we want to make it right come the Brentford game. The opportunity is still there to try and finish in the top half of the table with two games to go.

KT: Every game is a final for us. We obviously want to break the Club [points] record – we couldn’t do that last week, and we’ll try to do it against Brentford.

It seems like a lot of the mid-table sides are better than they’ve ever been, so to be in that discussion, does that show what a good side Fulham is and how far you’ve come?

KT: I agree. I was here four years ago, and it was totally different if you look in terms of the table, and things like that, so that’s something we can be proud of, but it’s also time to take the next step. I think we’ve done really well, the last games we’ve been a bit unlucky, losing a few games, but if you look before then I think we had a great season, and that’s something we shouldn’t forget. Obviously everyone is living now, in the moment, and now the results are not that good, but we are still really proud of where we are.

RS: Points tally-wise, it’s more than it was last season already, so that shows an improvement in itself. We still have an opportunity to beat the Club record points tally as well. So, again, that’s another motivation, that we want to try and beat that. Overall, it’s been a good season. There’s been times in the season where the Gaffer’s obviously told us we should have got the three points, and we’d probably have been a bit higher. There’s the Chelsea game at home, where we were disappointed to lose, especially after that first half, how well we played. Little moments like that where we’ve slipped up. Overall, we can probably be happy with the season, but we need to finish it right with these last two.

A big game on Sunday, Brentford, a West London derby – how much are you looking forward to it?

RS: Very much so. Obviously they’re on a good run at the moment, and we need a reaction, so I think it’s a recipe for a good game. It won’t be easy, but we beat them at home earlier on in the season, in dramatic fashion, so hopefully we can go there with full belief, just focus on ourselves, and try and win the game.

KT: London derbies are always special. We need a good result and I think we are ready for it, and looking forward to it. They’re in a good moment, they’re winning games. It’s really tight in the table as well, so it’s time to show what we have, and I hope we can make up for last week.

Fulham 2-1 Brentford

What does this game mean to supporters?

RS: Obviously it’s a West London derby, so for the fans there’s the extra incentive to want to win the game. Me being a local boy, it means that little bit more. We’re excited for it, and we’re going to be ready to go.
